Walnut Hill Schnauzers

Our story

A family that has loved schnauzers for generations

We’re Rob and Kim Collins. We’ve been married since 1994, and we raise our miniature schnauzers right here at home on our family farm.

How it started

It began with a dog named Sassy

Kim grew up with miniature schnauzers. Her grandparents, aunts and uncles had them too, so schnauzers have been part of her family for as long as she can remember.

In 2008, Nana Becky gifted us our first schnauzer, Sassy, who was two years old at the time. She was convinced we needed a schnauzer, and boy was she right. We worried our son Jacob might be allergic, so she made us an offer we couldn’t refuse.

“Just take Sassy for a week, and if Jacob is allergic like you suspect, I will gladly come get her.”Nana Becky

Jacob wasn’t allergic. Schnauzers have low-shedding coats that are often easier on allergies, and we fell in love with Sassy right away. Life has never been the same since.

Sassy was part of our family until we lost her in 2022.

The next chapter

Mack and Maggie

A couple of years after losing Sassy, we started looking again. We found Mack, who came to us at eight weeks old from Mississippi. A few weeks later we found Maggie, just weaned, in Alabama.

The two were raised together and quickly became a huge part of our family. Maggie had her first litter in September 2026, and getting to unite those puppies with their new humans in their forever homes was such a joy that we decided to add Hershey and Truffles. Their first litter is planned for 2028.

Raised in our home

Born in our living room, part of the family from day one

Our puppies are whelped right in our living room and are part of our everyday lives from the very first day.

Our daughter Rachel helps nurture each litter, and our grandkids and friends play with and socialize the puppies from the start. By the time they go home, they’re used to people, kids, and the normal sounds of a busy household.

Walnut Hill

Six generations in the hills of Franklin County

We live on a farm where Rob’s family has been for more than six generations. The hills and farmland of Franklin County, Tennessee, are the only home we know, and it’s where every Walnut Hill puppy gets its start.
